Day 1: Arrival and Exploring Luray















Morning:
Arrive in Luray and start your day by checking out the town’s local charm. Take a walk around Historic Downtown Luray to explore its shops, cafes, and art galleries.
Have breakfast or coffee at a local spot like Gathering Grounds Patisserie & Café.
Mid-Morning:
Head over to Luray Caverns, one of the most popular attractions in the area. The caverns are the largest in the eastern United States and feature incredible stalactites and stalagmites, as well as the famous Great Stalacpipe Organ, which makes music using the natural rock formations. The guided tour takes about an hour and is suitable for all ages.
Afternoon:
After touring the caverns, visit the adjacent Car and Carriage Caravan Museum and Luray Valley Museum, both included with your caverns ticket. The car museum features a collection of historic vehicles, while the Luray Valley Museum highlights local history.
Have lunch at one of the restaurants nearby, such as The Speakeasy in the Mimslyn Inn or West Main Market for a casual bite.
Evening:
Drive to one of the nearby scenic spots, such as Lake Arrowhead, for a peaceful evening walk or picnic.

Option for an evening drive to Shenandoah National Park to catch the sunset from Skyline Drive at one of the nearby overlooks, like Thornton Gap.
Day 2: Shenandoah National Park Adventure
Morning:

Head into Shenandoah National Park via the Thornton Gap entrance (about a 10-minute drive from Luray). Spend the morning hiking and enjoying the park’s beautiful trails. Some popular options for a half-day hike include:
Dark Hollow Falls Trail (1.4 miles round trip): A short but steep hike to a stunning waterfall.
Stony Man Mountain (1.6 miles round trip): Offers beautiful vistas with a relatively easy hike.
